Aleaf Labs vs. the 4 Best-Selling Testosterone Boosters: Ingredients, Doses & the Evidence
We put Aleaf Labs Testosterone Booster head-to-head with four of the biggest-selling men's testosterone supplements on the market — comparing actual ingredients, per-serving doses, price, certifications, and what the human trials say. Use the goal filter to see which formulas fit your objective.
“Testosterone booster” is a marketing label, not a regulated one. Two products with the same claim can contain completely different ingredients at very different doses — and some of the best-selling ones hide those doses inside a “proprietary blend.” Below we compare Aleaf Labs against four category best-sellers — Prime Labs Prime Test, Nugenix Total-T, MuscleTech AlphaTest, and Force Factor Test X180 — on the things that actually matter: the primary actives, disclosed per-serving dose, price per 30-day supply, certifications, and whether the label is transparent or proprietary. Every ingredient links to the primary human study behind it.

*Prices are approximate and shown in CAD; US-brand prices are converted from USD at roughly 1.40 and will vary with exchange rate and retailer. “n/d” = not publicly disclosed. Prime Labs — the category's #1 Amazon seller — publishes only a proprietary blend, so its individual doses can't be verified. Extract ratios are shown as herb-equivalent: Aleaf's 200 mg of 10:1 Tribulus extract is equivalent to 2,000 mg of dried herb.
What the human evidence actually says (per ingredient)
Ingredient marketing and ingredient evidence are not the same thing. Here's the primary human research behind each headline compound, with a plain “strength of evidence” rating and a PubMed link.
Tongkat Ali
Stronger evidenceIn men with late-onset hypogonadism, 200 mg/day of a standardized water-soluble extract improved symptom scores and raised serum testosterone (Tambi 2012). One of the better-supported botanicals for male vitality — but standardization (e.g., % eurycomanone) matters.
Tambi et al., Andrologia 2012 (PMID 21671978) →Fenugreek
Moderate evidenceStandardized fenugreek seed extract (Testofen) has been linked to improved androgen-deficiency symptom scores and free testosterone in middle-aged/older men in several RCTs (Rao 2016). The dominant ingredient in Nugenix, AlphaTest and Force Factor.
Rao et al., Aging Male 2016 (PMID 26791805) →Boron
Moderate / small studiesA small study found ~11.6 mg/day boron raised free testosterone and lowered estradiol over one week (Naghii 2011). Promising but based on very small samples. Nugenix (10 mg) doses it closest to the study.
Naghii et al., J Trace Elem Med Biol 2011 (PMID 21129941) →Ashwagandha
Stronger evidenceAshwagandha has some of the best human data of any T-support botanical — ~14.7% greater testosterone rise vs placebo (Lopresti 2019) plus strength/muscle gains (Wankhede 2015). Notably, none of these five best-sellers include it.
Lopresti et al., Am J Mens Health 2019 (PMID 30854916) →Tribulus terrestris
Weak evidenceDespite appearing in AlphaTest, Force Factor and countless formulas, controlled trials generally show Tribulus does not meaningfully raise testosterone in men (Neychev 2005). Traditional libido use outpaces the hormonal data — which is why Aleaf includes it as a traditional-use botanical rather than a hormonal claim.
Neychev & Mitev, J Ethnopharmacol 2005 (PMID 16281085) →Shilajit (PrimaVie)
Moderate evidencePurified shilajit (PrimaVie), used in AlphaTest, was associated with increased total testosterone over 90 days in one RCT (Pandit 2016).
Pandit et al., Andrologia 2016 (PMID 26395129) →Panax Ginseng (erection & blood flow)
Stronger evidenceA systematic review of RCTs found Korean red ginseng significantly improved erectile function versus placebo (pooled risk ratio ~2.4). Aleaf carries it; the best-sellers mostly don't.
Jang et al., Br J Clin Pharmacol 2008 (PMID 18754850) →Horny Goat Weed (icariin)
Weak / mechanisticIcariin inhibits PDE5 — the same enzyme prescription ED drugs target — in lab/animal studies. Human erectile-function trials are limited, so treat it as supportive, not proven. Present in Aleaf and Prime Labs.

Transparency separates the field — and the #1 seller loses. Aleaf Labs discloses every dose, and Nugenix and MuscleTech AlphaTest list individual amounts too. But Prime Labs Prime Test — the best-selling one — hides everything in a proprietary blend, and Force Factor discloses only some. If a label won't tell you how much Tongkat Ali or boron is inside, you can't know whether it's a clinical dose or a fairy dusting.
The best-evidence ingredient is missing from all five. Ashwagandha has arguably the strongest human data for testosterone and strength — yet none of these five include it. Fenugreek (Nugenix, AlphaTest, Force Factor) and Tongkat Ali (Aleaf) are the most defensible actives in the group; Tribulus appears widely but has weak evidence.
They're built for different goals. Nugenix, AlphaTest and Force Factor lean fenugreek/boron hormonal-support. Aleaf Labs is oriented toward libido and everyday vitality — Tongkat Ali standardized to 1.5% eurycomanone, plus 200 mg of 10:1 tribulus extract, horny goat weed, mucuna and ginsengs — and is the only one carrying a Health Canada NPN and dosing Tongkat Ali to a disclosed standardized level.
